Parents rooms

Now being a mum I always go and check out parents rooms especially to see if they have a toilet that the little ones can use, I don't like taking them into the other toilets as they are cramped and not really big enough for a couple of people in them lol.

A couple of weeks back I went shopping with Nana http://nana-favorite.blogspot.com/ (for anyone that would like to check her blog out) and we went to the new parents room at our local shops and I was amazed with it flabbergasted even, it was huge, it had beautiful couches in three separate rooms for the breastfeeding mothers ( why weren't they around when I needed them???) then the change table area which was massive and very child friendly, a huge playpen area that actually had things attached to the walls to play with in two of the rooms and it had the toilet like at the plaza where a lot of my friends in Vic shop.

But the one thing that was different was this thing on the wall it is called "I'll hold the baby" and its amazing and K loves going in it as you can see. I could go to the toilet without having to worry about her touching the soap dispenser 15 times because the first 14 she couldn't tell if the soap was coming out fast enough, or turning the tap on and off just to see if she can possibly make herself get any wetter?, or the worst in my mind touching the sanitary napkin dispenser to see what is in there?
I loved it and had to go tell the center manager that it was about time something like this was made available to us mums. Then the center manager came out and its a woman now that explained it all to me she must be a mum herself and I congratulated her on a terrific parents room and she said thanks but its not finished. They still have to put in the plasma screen on the wall with the Disney channel running all day!!!!!
Now after I closed my mouth from the shock I though to my self hmmmm how long could I leave K in the thing on the wall and the others in there watching the Disney channel while I did the shopping????????? Nah just kidding but isn't that amazing I just hope that the vandals in this world don't ruin it for our children, and its ironic too that I wont need to go in there as much as I would like to but I took M in there yesterday and showed him and told him to bring the girls to the toilet in there rather than in the men's toilet and he said for sure now.....

Television Addiction

Now I don't know how many of you watch "Greys Anatomy"?
But I do religiously, and last night they had an encore performance of the last show from last season , but it was on at 9:50pm so I stayed up to watch it and still cried through it like I did last year lol.
I love that show the actors the stories will she or wont she end up with McDreamy??? Or will she go to McSteamy? I love Georges quirky ways and Yangs determination. Im so glad its finally back and now on Sunday nights. It was lovely over the holidays but now I realise I am addicted to night time television that I know what day it is by whats on tele lol.
I must say though I do a lot of cross stitching when I sit and watch tele so hopefully now I can get back into the swing of things and get some more cross stitching done........

Blood Diamonds

I went to the movies yesterday with a couple of girlfriends to see the movie "Blood Diamonds". I had seen it on Oprah the day before and thought this would be a good movie to see as they raved about how good it is.

I have never been effected by a movie like this one effected me. I will never buy a diamond again.

You know you see on the news little snippets on what goes on overseas, but this was so in your face and terrifying I don't want to give away about the movie in case anyone wants to go see it, but the story was fantastic and so touching about what this man went through for his family. This picture is from the movie and let me tell you we were all crying.
If you can please take the time to go see it, it is violent but well worth it for the story about the blood diamonds and how they sell the conflict diamonds.
Makes you appreciate what you have..........

Another one at school

Well our second youngest has started school and loves it. She started last Wednesday but I didn't have the pics to put onto my blog till now thanks to Nana sending her disc to me today.

I must tell you though I was not too keen on how well K would handle not having her sister to play with, but things have gone well.

J did really well her first day not a tear to be seen and was keen to get into her new classroom, she walked in and was told to look for her name to hang her bag up and did so and then the teacher said to say goodbye to mum and it wasn't till she hugged me that I thought to myself I must get out of her now or I am going to cry lol, she looked so grown up and confident that I didn't have to worry at all.

So K and myself headed off to the shops mind you we get 5 minutes up the road and she says to me "Me go home now" I said no we are going shopping and she didn't want to go ??? But we kept going and then she was fine and amazingly well behaved. Normally when we go shopping I have to chase her everywhere and she hides in the clothing racks and hides where ever she can which just frustrates me. But this time was so nice and I'm hoping that the next time is going to be just as easy? We'll see we are going shopping this Thursday. Only two years too go now till K is at school and she is already counting them down constantly telling me that she only has "Two Ears till big school mummy"

Super Nana & The Mice

You know its funny I have always thought my mum to be pretty amazing and talented with the way she has handled a lot of things that has happened in her life and in mine, but the other day I must tell you she excelled.

Now as you all know I have written about the mouse problem I have been having here lately, well Nana and I went shopping and bought heaps of rat and mouse bait and have been leaving them in cupboards and up in the box in the lounge room ceiling (where the upstairs toilet pipe is).

Well guess what it is working a treat and so there was this odour of something dead in our house on Tuesday and then we found a few really sick mice but the smell was still here, So, on Wednesday Nana says "Lets have a look up in that part of the ceiling where we can hear them". So I go get the ladder and the mirror (so we can see in as it is a box which is really hard to describe but you cant just look over and see into it), and up I climb onto the ladder and ever so wearily put the mirror so I can see and grandad and Nana are saying you have to put it in further than that giggling to themselves about how scared I am, so I say back to them "I am not even happy about being up here in the first place" (I hate mice), so Nana says" get down I'll have a look".

Well we checked the whole thing out and found a dead mouse and a skeleton of what looks like a rat, Nana said get the vacuum and we'll suck it out, let me tell you I was not looking forward to that happening either and was starting to feel queasy in the stomach, anyway I get the vacuum and away she goes and we think we have it so she gets down packs everything away and she opens the vacuum with me standing about 5 meters away just in case it wasn't dead and now its a really pissed off mouse, and guess what it wasn't in there.

So she goes and gets the ladder again looks and its still in there so she gets a freezer bag and pulls it out and throws it away. Now at this stage I am telling her how much of a legend she is and how I would never be able to do anything remotely like that as she is washing her hands three times lol. But I couldn't believe how she just got up there and did it, the woman is incredible.

I hope that when one of my daughters has a problem when she is older that I too can reach deep down inside and pull out half of the courage that she showed and be able to help them.

Good on you Mum I love you

AHHHHH The Serenity

I praise the lords above that finally school is back today.

I am in heaven no more "Mum can I have something to eat" even though they only ate 5 minutes ago? How do they last at school with only being able to eat every couple of hours???

I have J at home today she starts tomorrow but its like not having any here she is so quite and does her own thing and we told her that we will take her out for lunch today as a treat.
Don't get me wrong but I do enjoy not having to get up and get lunches organised and the constant "Have you brushed your teeth? Done your hair? Fed the animals?".
But this morning was different I was looking forward to waking up early and going for a walk in the morning fog and then doing lunches and they were all ready to go by 7:30 lol.
Luckily they had something to do we had the concreters here concreting out the front and in M's workshop. So he is excited and cant wait to get his tools in there lol. I will post pictures shortly.
We found out the kids new teachers this morning and I was happy with nearly all of them the only one I wasn't happy with is P because I really think he needs a male teacher to pull him into line but we will see what happens as they said this morning the classes are all only temporary, they are still getting new kids enrolling.

I went to the doctor the other day because I am really struggling with P's defiance and I am at my wits end and I have to now go see a specialist in Port Maquarie about him, but the local doctor seems to think its Genetic Defiance Syndrome. So if any of you have heard of this please let me know as I came home and tried to find out more about it but nothing comes up???

Im off now to go enjoy the peace lol for a little while anyway..................

Nana and Grandads visit

Well we have had Nana and Grandad visiting us for the last 13 days and still got another 6 days to go. I held off from telling the kids so as to surprise them and let me tell you it was sooo hard to do, but I did it just lol. The got here on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 after driving straight through. Nana is amazing she did most of the driving Grandad drove about 100km but Nana did the rest (how I don't know).
The kids have just loved having them here they have been fishing everyday at least twice everyday. We've been shopping also and I finally got Nana to buy some new clothes for herself which she only tends to do every ten years or so, but she did and she looks amazing in them.
Grandad spoilt the boys by buying them an amazing amount of tackle, which by the way they are going through so quickly (lots of snags).
I also bought myself a pair of shoes called "Crocs" you know the new beach shoes everyone is wearing well they are incredibly comfortable and now Nana and Grandad own a pair of them too lol.
It also amazes me at the patience that they have with the kids I cant handle going fishing with the two younger boys as all they do is cast the line in then reel it in they don't give the fish the chance to even smell the bait they are using, how they even catch any fish I don't know they must just be throwing the hooks straight into their mouths.
Nana has helped me out heaps though with things I don't normally get a chance to do like clean out the cupboards to try get rid of the mice that I have in the house. I have mouse bait every where now in holes throughout the house. I can still hear them though its a bit like that movie "Mouse hunt" the mouse is taunting me.
Im going to miss Nana and Grandad when they go home I have tried convincing them that they should buy a house here, but they just wont be in it they both say but then we have the other two grandchildren back home they we wont see. So we will just have to see them a few times a year which will do. I am so glad though that when they are not here I can still talk to them everyday on the pc or on the mobile.

We had a really nice home ice cream cake as her birthday cake which was delicious. Isnt it amazing how the smallest things make children happy. K has not taken off the princess shoes (that make an awful noise) since she got them on Saturday lol. At least we hear where she is lol. We love you darling

Dont you just love it when.....

I had to laugh this morning I got on the computer and was talking to mum and she asked me if I had checked my emails yet so I start checking my emails to find that my lovely mum had sent me these photos and what made me laugh was when K came over and saw the one with mum and I and said it was her lol.

This was taken when I was about K's age (3) we are in the river at Raymond Terrace so mum told me. Mum also sent me these other gems lol. The boy in the middle saluting (for those of you who dont know him) is my baby brother, then we have my dad and brother and then down the bottom is my baby brother and his adorable wife (I think fiance then). Please sil dont kill me for posting these. I had to share them with our friends lol. I love looking at old photos.

The new bedroom suite

Well now we all (well almost all) have our own rooms we decided to get C a new bedroom suite (the neighbours down the road had it in their shed and we got it really cheap). He loves it and so do I, no more trying to make everything fit into tiny drawers.
He has an abundance of drawers now. The only thing is he cant reach up to hang things back up in the wardrobe, but he will eventually and the great thing is this will do him for years.
I didn't so much like it when we looked at it in the shed but in the room it looks great.

My CrossStitching

I have finally finished my cross stitching that I started I think december 2005 I know I'm slack but i havent had a great light to do it in either. But for christmas M bought me a lamp that is on a stand and goes beside my chair and he even went and got me a cool white globe that is especially for doing craft work.So I got to work and finished Pooh bear off and I had to go to spotlight to get some more yellow because I ran out and thought I would get another project. (D likes this one so it will be for him)

I am not looking forward to it though as there are quarter cross stitches and three quarter ones and three strands for some areas and 2 for others so I am going to have to concentrate lol. But it will look fantastic when its done. Here are some pictures. Enjoy....................

Well another Christmas gone

Well I have experienced being one of those mothers in Emergency on Christmas day.... D had a bit of an accident where the metal pedal of his cousins pushbike went into his shin as he was jumping a dirtpile(as you do) so 5 stitches later and 2 hours (which wasnt bad considering it was xmas day) gone out of the day we returned home. Certainly has slowed him down though he's to take it easy for 10 days which is terribly hard. Other than that we all had a great day it did rain on and off but it was still warm enough to be sitting outside and the kids to have a swim in the pool. I got a lamp to use while cross stitching and I was amazxed that M even went and got a cool white globe for me which makes the colours so much easier to see. I have almost finished my cross stitch but ran out of colour so I have to make a trip to spotlight. I hope everyone else had a great day. I must say I misssed seeing my neice and nephew on xmas day, more than I expected actually.......

T's room

Here we have our young lady's new room. I can tell you she absolutely loves it and when she came home literally jumped in the air that it was finished. ( I told her I didnt have time lol) It amazes me though that she doesnt keep it as clean as her brother keeps his room, which is surprising to me. Well M is happy though because now he can move onto another project around the house that he wants to do lol.

P's Room

Well its finally finished and I must say in record time. Our young man now has his own rooom and he just loves it and I am pleased to say that so far he takes a lot of pride in his room and makes every effort to pull up his doona and keep the floor clean of clothes and other stuff. I said to him its his choice how he keeps it but I would prefer he kept it clean. All I need to do now is get some curtains which can wait till after xmas.

That time of the year

Well HO HO HO we put our lights on the other night and the kids love it M had so much fun putting them up. They look very affective when it is darker. We have some icicle blue lights which are hard to see I think the spotlight on Santa makes it too bright but without the spotlight you wouldnt see Santa.
